Wave (2026)
Inspired by the resemblance between wood grain and ocean waves, this work explores how different natural materials can share similar patterns and movements.
Using cyanotype-coated wood, I entered the ocean to capture the shimmering reflections of sunlight on water—an ever-changing phenomenon that never repeats itself. I bent layers of ash and poplar to express the different forces and movements of waves. On the base, I experimented with sea salt and saltwater to create textures that evoke the ocean's depth.
Rather than recreating the ocean, I wanted to let natural materials and processes preserve a moment that could never happen the same way again.
